All Day I Dream About School

Jade and Alys are students are Skyline College. They are both 19 years old and have similar home dynamics. Alys came to America when she was in elementary school. Jade came to America after high school. I chose to interview them because of their fluent use of Tagalog and English. What they both have in common is that they enjoy going to school. Their opinions on what school was like in the Philippines compared to the U.S. are piercing.

Segment I
The first segment describes their plans to go back to the Philippines. This is interesting because usually there is a divide between people who would like to stay in America and people who would prefer to go back to the Philippines. The conversation goes back to what kinds of writings they have tried. Jade won an award for her writings when she was in elementary school. Alys enjoys being a actress and even met some actors who are popular on TFC, The Filipino Channel.

Segment II
This segment explores the difficulty of maintaining a language, eating together as a family, and the process of trying to fit into an American lifestyle. They both give us a look into their lives that is off the cuffs. I thank them for that. Through it all, they have had to go through more difficulties than should have to be endured. They both have great attitudes and I enjoy all the time I spend with them.

Video II

This last video shows a candid discussion between Jade and Alys and how they feel about school in America.
